Alecia Neo

Alecia Neo is an artist and cultural worker who develops long-term projects that involve collaborations with individuals and communities. Her socially engaged practice unfolds primarily through lens-based media and participatory artworks that address modes of radical hospitality and care labour.  Her recent projects include Performing Care (2023), Esplande Tunnel, a dance film ramah-tamah, Power to the People (2022), Karachi Biennial 2022 and Care Index, an experimental platform which aims to collect, distill, and visualise data relating to care labour, Between Earth and Sky, a collaboration with Sharda Harrison, Ajunta Anwari and a group of caregivers in Singapore.

She is the co-founder of Brack, a collective for socially engaged art. She also runs Unseen Art Initiatives, a Singapore-based platform for disabled professional and emerging artists.​​​​​​​ Alecia has been an artist-in-residence at diverse art institutions such as Bamboo Curtain Studio, The Substation, NTU CCA Singapore and UNIDEE in Biella, Italy. She received the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award in 2016 and the National Youth Award in 2019. She is an Associate Artist of Dance Nucleus (Singapore).
